As the weather warms up, I’m finding that projects of mine both intended and unexpected are beginning to bear fruit this season. Read on to learn about what I’ve been up to this March and how you can get involved if you’d like!

All Hands on Deck
Last fall, I shared that I’ve come aboard as Producer for Dead of Night with The Grim Reaper. Today, I’m happy to announce that we’re officially crewing up! Interested parties — inquire within, and spread the word among your film crew mateys too. There are lots of positions to fill, and I especially encourage folks from demographically underrepresented communities to apply.

Also last fall, I completed my first semester of the Recreation Administration master’s program at Cal State Long Beach. As a final paper for one of my classes, I wrote “Ride Your Truth: An Exploration in LGBTQIA+ Motorcycle Culture Past and Present” in which I outlined an introductory history of queer motorcycle clubs and integrated my own personal experiences as a bi woman of color motorcyclist.
I thought there’d be nothing more to it once I hit “Submit.” Then after the end of the semester, my professor encouraged me to continue delving into the subject. Lo and behold, the annual Circa: Queer Histories Festival opened their call for proposals, and I saw this as an opportunity to take my final paper a step further.
Last week with five minutes to spare (after all, I am a grad student), I submitted my program proposal “Ride Your Truth: Conversations with LGBTQIA+ Motorcycle Culture Past and Present” in which I hope to bring together multiple representatives from established and emerging LGBTQIA+ motorcycle communities for a panel that will spark thoughtful and engaging dialogue about our experiences on the road.
Stay tuned! If accepted, I’d definitely appreciate any volunteers who can lend a hand for this speaking engagement. Follow Roadcats Moto Club on Instagram for updates.
