Deux You Know About This
... two-wheeled, barrier-breaking history? Or upcoming duo improv class?
The older I get, the more I take the principle of “lifelong learning” to heart. Learning yields growth; growth is a sign of life. So for my Substack dispatch this month, I’d like to share a couple educational tidbits and infuse a little extra boost into your daily life.

*The Return of the Demystifiers
Beginning March 8th at The Glendale Room, Stephen Gillikin and I (aka improv duo Power Sauce) are once again offering our Demystifying Duo Improv class, which will culminate in a class show for your friends, family, and invited guests to enjoy. Our last cohort had so much fun and developed so much as performers. Don’t just take my word for it. Here’s what one previous student had to say:
“The class is such an amazing and affirming experience! You're allowed room to experiment, explore, and really find your voice in a supportive and safe environment. I cannot express how much this class helped me realize my own capabilities and worthiness to play and express myself authentically.”
Stephen and I are very excited to Power Sauce it up for our next round of classes! If you wanna power up your improv, sign up ASAP and use promo code POWER75 for a massive 75% off discount.
Also! Stephen and I are designating two registration slots for Diversity Scholarship recipients. Diversity Scholarship applications are due no later than February 28th at 11:59pm PT.
*Because this is our second time around, I briefly considered “The Duo Strikes Back” as a section header, but it struck me as too dark side a title.
🛣️ Reporting from the Road

All Hail the Queen
As Black History Month comes to a close, it seems fitting to salute legendary motorcyclist, Bessie Stringfield. Heralded as "The Motorcycle Queen of Miami," she was the first Black woman to ride solo across the United States, not just once, but a total of eight times — all during the 1930s and 40s, well before the Civil Rights Era when Jim Crow laws were still in full effect.
In 2002, she was posthumously inducted into the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame for her lifelong commitment to riding and for the social barriers she broke down in the motorcycling world. Enjoy this segment from Jay Leno's Garage to learn more about Bessie’s life and legacy.
